What is it and when are we doing the project.
This term for our school assessment we have been tasked to create a small house/living space for homes that are squashed together without much space to work with. We have to create a house that is 25 squared meters or smaller and has to include all basic things needed to live such as a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and so on.
In the last 4 Technology lessons of term 2, we created our house at 1:20 scale using sheets of cardboard, pencils, ruler and masking tape.
In Science lessons from week 1 - 7 of term 3, we will install electrical components into our house such as lighting and fans.
In Maths lessons from week 1 -5 of term 3, we will calculate how much power our homes consumes. We will then visit some electricity company websites to determine how efficient our houses are in terms of power consumption.
This blog is about the creation of this house and how we put in the electric components to create a functional living environment.
Below in the image is a scaled diagram of our 'mini' house.

Explanation of 'mini' House:
Our house has a total floor area of 25 metres squared. It is an open design to make our house more comfortable and easier to manor around inside, thus allowing easing living. Our house is designed for one or two people but the sofa is a fold out bed this then creates another bed for any visitors. The living space has a large table for the space available with a window above it to let light in. There is also a 70" tv in the living area which is wall mounted and can be viewed from the three person sofa. The kitchen has a many standard appliances such as a dishwasher, oven and microwave. The bathroom has a bath with the shower head over the bath. In the bedroom there is a wooden wardrobe for the clothes.
